Anna Castelli Ferrieri
The Italian architect and industrial designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri (1918-2006) was the first woman to graduate from the prestigious Milan Polytechnic. In 1949 she founded Kartell, together with her husband Giulio Castelli, with the aim of producing high quality design objects made of plastic.
Prior to this, Anna Castelli Ferrieri had founded her own architecture studio dealing with projects in Milan, Turin and Genoa. An important project was the design of the Kartell headquarters in Binasco. From 1966 onwards she designed products for Kartell and in 1976 she became Artistic Director of the company. One of its best known products is the Componibili storage unit.
