Achille Castiglioni
Achille Castiglioni was an architect and designer undisputed protagonist of Italian design from the 1950s to today. Born in 1918 in Milan, he graduated in architecture and dedicated himself to industrial experimentation with the brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo, with whom he worked closely until 1968. His creative genius is expressed at its best in lighting: the very famous lamps by Achille Castiglioni such as the Arco di Flos, the Parentesi and the Taccia, also made for the same company or even the famous Sanluca armchair, are true icons of design. Indeed, he demonstrates an extraordinary ability to combine expressiveness and practicality through an ironic and functional design. Winner of nine Golden Compasses and professor at the faculty of architecture in Turin, he is one of the founders of ADI. Many of his works are exhibited at the MoMA in New York and in other prestigious international museums
