Gio Ponti
Giovanni Ponti, known as Gio (Milan, November 18, 1891 - Milan, September 16, 1979), is considered one of the masters of Italian architecture, and was also one of the most important designers and essays of the twentieth century.
Alongside the great architectural works that bear his unmistakable signature, there is a vast production in the furniture sector, as evidenced by his three Milanese homes, completely furnished "alla Ponti": the one in via Randaccio in 1925, Casa Laporte in 1926 in via Brin and the last, in 1957, in via Dezza, the “manifesto” of his domestic design. Gio Ponti, promoter of Italian industrial design, proposes mass production in interior design as a "sophisticated", economic, "democratic" and modern solution.
Molteni & C takes care of a project for the re-edition of furniture and furnishings designed by Gio Ponti, some originally produced for these private homes or for small series. After a long process of research, selection and study of prototypes, the collection is presented at the 2012 Salone del Mobile, thanks to the collaboration and exclusive agreement signed with the Ponti heirs and the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati.
