1960s Mid-Century Flavio Poli for Seguso "Sommerso" Murano Glass Ashtray / Catchall. Masterfully crafted in Murano, Italy, this piece showcases Poli’s mastery of the sommerso (submerged) glassmaking technique, a process requiring immense skill to layer contrasting colors of glass without them mixing. The heavy, geometric rectangular block features a stunning optical illusion. A vibrant, rounded magenta-pink inner core is suspended within a subtle layer of yellow, which is then flawlessly encased in a thick, luminous outer block of clear glass with an ice-blue tint. The top surface features a smooth, polished bowl with two clean, semi-circular rests, making it a highly functional cigar or cigarette ashtray, though it serves equally well as a luxurious desk catchall or a standalone sculptural object. Its substantial weight, brilliant light refraction, and bold color palette make it a quintessential collector's piece for lovers of mid-century Italian design and Murano craftsmanship. It's in excellent condition free of any chips, cracks, or scratches.
