The Queen Victoria was a typical early 19th-century cargo sailing ship heavily utilized for transatlantic routes. The vessel is famously remembered today because she was immortalized in an 1843 painting by marine artist Henry Smartly (1804–1849). The dramatic artwork, titled "Ship Queen Victoria - a Close Call Entering Le Havre," depicts the ship during a critical moment as she entered the French port, and it is now preserved in the collection of the Peabody Essex Museum.
